Crescendo” Project Summary

In the Spring of 2020, Charlottesville High School 9th graders and community members collected plastic film and helped create “buns” that make up the final piece, entitled Crescendo.

The project’s goal was to engage with the Charlottesville community around the important issues of Climate Change and plastic consumption, using art as a universal communicator.

Before the COVID-19 lockdown, the Write Climate class worked with Charlottesville High School to teach 9th grade students about the science of Climate Change. In conjunction with these lessons, CHS students helped create plastic “buns” to convey plastic’s role in the Climate Crisis and to help form a beautiful piece of art.
